Charlie Harrison was the son of John and Ann Layton Harrison, born and attended school Nashua, Iowa.[1] He worked in a woolen mill as a boy. He married Katie Schmidt when he was 25.[2][3] They are the parents of three daughters.
He purchased a farm on the edge of Appleton, Minnesota in 1907. The farm was next to the county fair grounds and Charlie served as superintendent of the fair cattle exhibit for many years. Charlie's daughters helped him with farm chores, including planting crops and shocking grain.[4] By 1930, the three Harrison daughters had all left home.[5]
Charlie died at home at age 78.[6] He had done a few chores in the morning, and died before lunch after saying he wasn't feeling well.[7] He is buried in Appleton Cemetery.[8]
