Lewiston. Gertrude E. Williams, 84, of Auburn, died Sunday morning at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

She was born in Black Rock, Connecticut, a section of Bridgeport, Aug. 19, 1911, daughter of Nelson S. and Edna M. Slauson and was educated in Schools of Black Rock, graduating from Bridgeport High School.

Mrs. Williams had lived her entire life at her ancestral home at Black Rock until moving to Auburn to live with her son in 1984.

Her husband, Capt. Chauncey H. Williams, was lost at sea in February of 1942 while serving in the Merchant Marines.

Mrs. Williams was a long time member of the Black Rock Congregational Church where she had been very active in numerouts ministries. Love and dedication to her church and family were the focus of her entire life. Since moving to Auburn, she had attended the East Auburn Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Roy A. and Flora Williams of Auburn; one niece and several nephews.
