Biography

---1844 Redmond Sr. purchased tract of land containing about 300 hundred acres from his father-in-law Jesse Edwin Mizelle Sr. This tract of land lay in Bear Grass Township, western section and adjoined Redmond's grandfather King Harrison's land. Land lies on what is now Harrison Road, Jenny Harrison Road and Cowin Road. The land was divided among his children after his death. ---1849 Martin County Deed Book O page 566. Outlaw Wynn sold a tract of land containing 88 and 1/3 acres to Redmond Harrison for $150. The land was fell to Outlaw Wynn by the death of his father Daniel Wynn. This tract of land laid in Bear Grass along Bee Tree Branch and ajoined King Harrison's Land. There is a Redmond Harrison Cemetery on this land behind the old house. It is all growing over and most of the head stone are buried. This were Robert Redmond Sr. was buried but I have not been able to located a headstone. ---1850 Martin County, NC census: Redmond Harrison, age 35, farmer with $550 real estate, wife Crissie 22, dau Eliza 5, dau Elizabeth 2, dau Zilpy 1. ---1860 Martin County, NC census: Redmond Harrison was not listed (missed). ---1870 Martin County, NC census: Robert Harrison age 55, farmer $700 real estate, $200 personal property, wife Crissie age 43, Liza age 25, Eliza age 22, Sara age 20, Reuben age 17, William Age 14, Isabella age 10, Sopha age 7, Robert Jr. age 3, Jane age 1. ---Division of Robert Redmond Harrison land:

      • Lot No. 1 fell to Redmond Harrison (Jr) containing 60 acres.
      • Lot No. 2 fell Sophia Cratt containing 42.5 acres valuation @212.50 and pay over $48.15 to Lot No. 5 & 6.
      • Lot No. 3 fell to Mary Jane Harrison value at $170. and pay over $5.65 to Lot No. 5 & 6.
      • Lot No. 4 fell to Isabell Rogerson containing 53 and 2/3 acres vauluation $157.25 and pay over $22.90 to Lot No. 5 & 6.
      • Lot No. 5 & 6 containing 108 acres , valuation @253.00, was divided in 6 parts as follows.

Lot 1 fell to William Harrison containing 18 and 2/3 acres va;iatopm $41.00. Lot 2 fell to Reuben Harrison containg 18 and 2/3 acrea valuation 54.50 and pays over $4.49 to Mary J. Harrison and to Sophia Harrison $5.33 and to William Harrison $0.33 cents. Lot 3 Fell to Redmond Harrison (Jr) containing 18 and 2/3 acres vaulation $58.00 and pays over $14.33 top Isabell Rogerson and $2.34 to Mary J. Harrison. Lot 4 fell to Isabell Rogerson containing 18 and 2/3 acres valuation $27.00. Lot 5 fell to Mary Jane Harrison containing 18 and 2/3 acres valuation $31.50. Lot 6 fell to Sopha Cratt containing 18 and 2/3 acres valuation $36.00.
