James and William Ann were living in Washington Beaufort County when their oldest daughter married on 22 May 1895 according to the marriage license. Dawson moved to Tarboro Township, Edgecombe County between 1897 and 1900. There is a discrepancy between Dawson's first wife William Ann's death and the date that he married the second time to Martha Wynn. William Ann's headstone indicates she died 19 Dec 1909; Dawson marriage license to Martha Wynn indicates he married her 25 August 1909, about a 4 month over lap. William Ann probably died before 19 Dec 1908.
