Biography

James Robert Harrison was born in 1813. He was the son of James Harrison and Ellen Beaver. He was baptised on 17 March 1814 by his uncle, William Harrison (noted in handwriting on the register at Blackley, Lancashire, England). His father's occupation was "merchant", and he was resident in Manchester.

He was in the H.M. 80th Regt. and went to Sydney, Australia.

Marriage and family

He married French-born Clementine Romansson. They had a daughter, Emily (Clementine Emily Margaret Harrison) while they were living in Australia. They also had a daughter named Ellen.

The family proceeded to New Zealand, and lived in Auckland.

Death

James Harrison passed away in 1870. He died at Stanmore Bay at his residence (called Vermonton), and was interred in a very small cemetery close to the beach (there are only 5 plots). His daughter Ellen, who died aged 20 (wife of Maurice Kelly) is also buried there.

He went to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, where he married Marguerite Clementine Romanssons, of Pau, Pyrenees, France, and they had three daughters.
