Death

Obituary

LOWELL - Blanche L. (Hart) Hondras, 76, of Lowell, died peacefully Friday morning October 29, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of George J. Hondras with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Nashua, NH on April 27, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Arie (Webster) Hart. She received her education in the Nashua school system and was a graduate of Nashua High School class of 1952.
In her early years Mrs. Hondras had been employed by the former Impco in Nashua where she met her husband. After leaving there she devoted her life to tending to the needs of her family. Once her children were grown she returned to work as the Secretary and bookkeeper for the Hellenic American School in Lowell as well as the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity. She retired in the late 1980's after 20 years of service.
She was an avid painter and reader as well as a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders and a dedicated viewer of Jeopardy. But her true passion was entertaining family and friends. Whether it was a holiday or impromptu visit, she would make it a special event for all. She had many fond memories of her family and friends but she especially loved her visits to Greece and her time at Cape Cod. She lived a life full of love, fidelity and friendship. She had a caring and nurturing way that touched the lives of all that knew her and she will be sorely missed.
She was a member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Christine A. Panagiotakos and her husband Steven Panagiotakos of Lowell; her son Charles G. Hondras and his wife Heather of Dracut; seven grandchildren Ashley Nagele of Florida, Andrew, Courtney and Christina Hondras all of Lowell, Charlie Hondras of Dracut, and Georgiana and Alexandria Panagiotakos both of Lowell; three sisters Barbara Kierstead of Nashua, NH, Joann Lapierre and her husband George and Sally Bosquet and her husband Jerry all of Milford, NH; one brother Richard Hart and his wife Norma of Nashua, NH; her close friend Cindy Nagele of Lowell: and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Sandra Potter and Priscilla Kopka and sister-in-law of the late Harold Kierstead.
Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 10 AM in the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, Lowell. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lowell Hospice and VNA PO Box 1965 Lowell, MA 01853-1965 [1]
