Biography

John Hart Jr, son of John and Sarah Unknown Hart Sr, died before May 19 1774 the date his will was proved.[1] He married Hannah Phillips sisters were Abbygail, Theophilus' wife, and Rebecca as named in her will.[2]

Their children were as named in their wills cited above:

  • 1. Elijah b Sep 10 1749, d Feb 2 1829, m Rebecca Mershon
  • 2. Major John d 1812 unmarried and left his estate to Elijah's children
  • 3. Philip b 1755, d 1831, m Hannah Palmer
  • 4. Abner b 1762, m Jane Vancleve, daughter of Creinyonce Vancleve
  • 5. Fransinah "Fanny" d after Aug 17 1774 date of mother's will, m Joab Mershon
  • 6. Abigail m Joab Mershon, second wife and widower of Fransinah, her sister.
  • 7. Rebecca m John Marshall[3]

On March 28 1775 Benjamin Mershon was named guardian of (John) Hart, Abner and Philip who were underage.[4]
