In 1841, John and his wife are living in Windlesham with a child, Francis Brown, who must be their 2-year-old grandson, son of their daughter Anne Hart Brown. [1]

In 1861, he is a widower, grocer and corn dealer, blind, living with daughter Mary Ann Webb, widow, and his grandchildren Julia and Albert Webb. [5]
He passed away 9 February 1867, leaving a will. "2 December 1867
The will of John Hart late of Bagshot in the County of Surrey Retired Cornchandler deceased who died 9 February 1867 at Bagshot aforesaid was proved at the Principal Registry by the oath of Mary Hart of Bagshot aforesaid Spinster the sole Executrix."
The executrix of John's will was his unmarried cousin Mary Hart, "daughter of my late uncle James". Mentioned in his will are his grandson Albert James Webb (underage) and his daughter "Ambrosia, wife of Richard Edmonds."
