Mary died from dispepsia (age 57) on 30 December 1884 in Albemarle, Virginia.[5] Her husband, Alexander, was the informant.
Following Mary's death, her husband, Alexander, moved to Mary's deceased father's estate, "Fruitland," near Keswick in Albemarle County, Virginia.
