Note: Sylvester (Wes) Harter, 81, a retired blacksmith, died at 6:40 a. m. Saturday at his home in Nashville, Darke county, after a lingering illness.
A native of Liberty township, Darke county, he had resided for the last fifty years in the home where death occurred. He was a member of the Nashville U. B. church and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics at Palestine.
Surviving are his wife, Emma; three sons, Harry, of Nashville; Addison, of Greenville rural route 3, and Earl, of Palestine; four daughters, Mrs. C. C. Rush, Saratoga, Indiana; Mrs. John Brimley and Mrs. Leo Marker, both of Nashville, and Mrs. Warren McCabe, of New Madison rural route 1; twenty-eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
There are also two brothers, William Harter, of near Baker's store, and Elmer Harter, Greenville rural route and a sister Mrs. William Rolfe, Greenville rural route 4.
Funeral services are to be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Nashville U. B. church with Rev. Frank Royer officiating. Interment will be in the Nashville cemetery.
[Miller Funeral Home records state that he was born Dec. 9, 1861 in Liberty Twp., the son of Josiah Harter and Rebecca Teaford (both b. in Butler Twp, Darke Co. OH.)][1][2]
