Note: Phillip wrote a will in 1791 in which he named his grandson Jacob Nagle as the recipient of 10 pounds. Jacob was the son of his daughter Catherine. The will is at the Adams County Historical Society "Estate papers" under Philip Hartman, file # 348, Berwick Twp.
An entry in the LDS online file shows Phillip Hartman marrying Maria Altland (born in 1746) in 1765 and that they had no known children. That entry also showed him to be born in 1725. The marriage record from the St. Matthew Church in Hanover, Pa. stated that Phillip was a widower when he married Maria. I believe that Phillip's daughter Catherine was about the same age as his second wife. In the Altland family history they list Phillip's birth date as 1725, probably that is where the LDS entry came from.
Philip paid taxes in Berwick in 1762, 1772, 1783. Philip also paid taxes in 1795 for land and also in 1795 in Abbottstown (no land). This is probably the elder Philip's son.
Mummert's cemetery lists his birth date as Dec 15, 1725 and death date as May 5, 1809.
