Lucy Ann Hartnell was born in 1884, the youngest known child of James Hartnell and Jane Hartnell, with her birth being registered in the 1st Quarter at Taunton, Somerset, England.[1] When she made her appearance in the world there were already three children in the home – a half-sister, Georgina Mary Wyatt, and two full siblings, sister Bessie Jane, and brother William Henry.
In 1908, while living in St Pancras, Lucy gave birth to her only known child, a son she named William Henry.
On the 2nd April 1911 the now 27-year-old Lucy, a typewriter now disengaged, was living at Gray's Inn Road, St Pancras.[2] There is no mention of William's whereabouts.
Lucy never married.
Lucy Ann Hartnell passed away in 1949, at Bideford, Devon, England, aged 65 years, her death being registered in the 4th Quarter.[3]

There is no evidence to substantiate the unsourced claim (IMDB) that Lucy was only 17 when she gave birth to her son, William. In fact, there is evidence that she was at least 24 years old at the time, having been born in Somerset in 1884.
There are also indications that Lucy and her (purported) sister, Bessie, had different mothers. There is a Bessie Hartnell born to parents James and Jane, in 1879. This matches with other evidences uncovered.
