Biography
- Jackson was born on 11 April 1836 in Montgomery County, North Carolina, the oldest of known children, seven sons and three daughters of James L. and Elizabeth Taylor Hartsell.
- At an unknown date and place, he married Virginia J. Southerland and they became the parents of five known children, two sons and three dughters:
- Laura J. Hartsell
- James S. Hartsell
- Annie Hartsell
- May Hartsell
- Ernest H. Hartsell
- On 14 January 1883[1] at the age of fifty-two, Jackson died of unknown causes in Magnolia, Duplin County, North Carolina, He is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Duplin County.
