Biography

Findagrave lists her maiden name as Hartwell, but this has not been confirmed by primary sources. It also lists her with a middle name Rose, but is there any source confirming that?

Torrey lists her first name as uncertain and no last name with these source notations:[1]

FLETCHER, Robert (1592-1677) & [?Sarah] ____; in Eng, by 1620?; Concord

  1. Blake-Glidden 98
  2. Bridges Anc. 101
  3. LBDF&P 4:147
  4. Snow-Estes 1:278
  5. Brown-Parker 30
  6. Reg. 22:389
  7. Fletcher (ms)
  8. Ashburnham 700
  9. Warren (,5) 51
  10. Backus Anc. 81
  11. Botsford-Marble 180

See this Wikitree G2G discussion on Sara, wife of Robert Fletcher.

Children of Robert Fletcher and Sarah are:

  1. Grissel aka Carey Fletcher (1618-1699);
  2. Francis Fletcher (1620-1704);
  3. William Fletcher (1622-1677);
  4. Luke Fletcher (1625-1655);
  5. Samuel Fletcher (1632-1697).

Sara was not mentioned in her husband's will written 4 Feb 1672 so is presumed to have died by that date. Findagrave, for some reason, lists her death date as 12 May 1677.

I think the death should be changed to "before 4 Feb 1672" as that was the date his will was written and she is not mentioned. Right now it says "12 May 1677" which is the date of probate of his will, so I'm guessing that originally on "one World Tree" which, IMHO should never be used as a "source", it might have said "before 12 May 1677" in referring to the probate, where she also was not mentioned. The will is viewable on ancestry https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/9069/images/007553462_00074?pId=2522186 and probably somewhree on familysearch.

Brad -

I've pored over the will of Robert Fletcher and it appears that his wife is very clearly mentioned in it. In part: "...it is my will that my sonn Francis and his loving and [unreadable] wife doe take the spetiall care of my loving wife for as long as the lord shall continue her..." Let me know if you read it differently. I think her death date should be changed to after 4 Feb 1672. Thanks!

Bryan, you are right, I missed that text in the will. Maybe I need better glasses. I'll change her death date to after.

Fletcher-4030 and UNKNOWN-34016 appear to represent the same person because: Same husband and same death information.

Hi Patricia, I think this Sarah should be mother of Grissell, and not Hannah Jewell. Grissell was the mother of Hannah. I'm trying to merge the two Hannahs

What evidence is there that this woman existed and was the mother of Robert Fletcher's children?
