Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of the Revolution holds records for five Nathan Haskells who served in Massachusetts during the Revolutionary War,[3] and the DAR has one record for a different Nathan Haskell (1761-1826). More research is needed to link this Nathan to any Revolutionary War service.
Nathan Haskell married on 27 Oct 1771 in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts, to Judith Witham,[4] daughter of Samuel Witham.[5] The Haskell family removed from Gloucester, Massachusetts to New Gloucester, Maine before 1777, when son, William, was born.[6]
Nathan and Judith Haskell had the following children, the first three born in Gloucester, Massachusetts and the rest in New Gloucester, Maine:[5][7][8]

The Nathan Haskell household was enumerated in the following records of the United States Census:
1790, the Nathan Haskell household, residing in the division allotted to William Hobby (soon to be called New Gloucester, Maine), consisted of 2 white males over age 16, 6 white males under age 16 and 6 white females.[9]
1800 , the Nathan Haskell household of 14 resided in New Gloucester, Maine.[10]
1810, the Nathan Haskell household of 7 resided in New Gloucester, Maine.[11]
1820, the Nathan Haskell household of 4 resided in New Gloucester, Maine.[12]
1830, the Nathan Haskell household of 3 resided in New Gloucester, Maine, and included 1 male between age 70-80, 1 female between age 70-80 and 1 female between age 30-40 .[13]
Nathan died on 4 Dec 1838 in New Gloucester, Maine, aged 87 years.[14]
Research Notes
Nathan's DOB is found in two vital records indices with different years of birth. There is no record of him in online VRs of Essex Co.
