Eliza and James married in St Michael's Christchurch 6 Oct 1865. (Littleton Times 12 Oct 1865 p 3). They emigrated to NSW Australia in 1869.

James KELLS was born in Ireland c 1843 and Eliza Hayes HASKETT was born in Ireland c 1848.

The names of James KELLS parents might be William & Alice (These are the names recorded in NSW BDM death index for James KELLS)

Eliza Hayes HASKETT's parents are probably Henry HASKETT & Phoebe HAYES.

I think James went to New Zealand with his parents. On another forum it is suggested that about 5 KELLS brothers, including a William KELLS emigrated to NZ about 1844.

Eliza Hays HASKETT's father did not emigrate to NZ. The 1865 marriage notice refers to her father as Henry ASKETT [sic] Esq of Tipperary Ireland. Eliza might have emigrated with her siblings Thomas, Joesph, Phoebe and Henry HASKETT. As Henry HASKETT (the brother) was born abt 1857, the family must have arrived between 1858- 65.

Going back to Eliza and James. They migrated to Sydney on the 'Ruahine" on 3 February 1869. Before James died in 1892 they had another 7 children making 10 in total.

Eliza remarried to a George Smith in 1906. Eliza died 28 September 1914 at Cabbage Tree, Maitland Point, Gostwyck Shire, District of Uralla, NSW, Australia and is buried in the Salvation Army section of the Uralla Cemetery.
