Florence Bruce was the oldest living woman in Australia for some time she died with all her faculties intact, save her hearing and sight which were diminishing. She played the piano, sang and told many stories to her seven generations of grandchildren. She was a very well liked person by all and helped her daughter Mavis and niece Marion compile The Hatch family In Australia written by Marion Warman. This book documents the many thousands of descendants from Robert Hatch 1805 who came to Australia in 1832 from Newry, Down in Ireland.
