Erastus was a soldier of the American Revolution. He was with the Green Mountain Boys at the Battle of Bennington.[3][4] On 21 Jul 1778 he entered service under Captain John Warner in Lieutenant Colonel Herrick's Regiment of Rangers, Vermont Militia.[5]
About 1782, he married Anna Warner at Woodbury, Litchfield, Connecticut, [1] and by 1786, they made their home in Cornwall, Addison County, Vermont.
The Hathaways had ten children:[4][1]
By 1800 the Hathaways were still living at Whiting, Addison, Vermont.[6] Then by 1810 they had settled at Swanton, Franklin, Vermont,[7] where Erastus remained for his lifetime.
Erastus Hathaway passed away on 21 Sep 1844 at Swanton, Franklin County, Vermont. He was buried at Woods Hill Cemetery, also in Swanton, Vermont.[4]
