Biography

Richard Haughten's children James, Mercy, Katherine were baptized 25 June 1676 at the First Congregational Church in New London.[1][2]

Samuel Bill and wife Mercy owned the covenant at the New London Congregational Church on 21 Aug 1692. Sons Samuel and Philip were baptized the same day. The following year, 3 Sep 1693, they were admitted fully into the church. Baptized at the church in New London were the following of their children: Samuel 21 Aug 1692; Philip 21 Aug 1692; Child bpt 15 Dec 1695; Joshua 5 June 1698; Jonathan 8 Sep 1700; Mercy 27 Sep 1702; [3]

Persons named in the will of Samuel Bill (in order of will):[4] wife Elizabeth (his second wife); Children:

  • Samuel
  • Philip
  • James
  • Joshua
  • Jonathan

The History of the Bill Family (1867) lists the above children and an additional child John, whom he says was living at the time of Samuel's will, no further record. However there is no child John listed in the will.[5]

Can you add Hannah Bill (Bill-533) as her daughter? She is listed in Samuel's will.

I attempted to remove Eliphalet as a son - if they had a son named Eliphalet, it was absolutely not the one that married Dorothy Marsh, as that Eliphalet was born in 1750 and served in the revolutionary war. Please advise . I can detach from Dorothy Marsh and create a new Eliphalet, but want to know how to best correct it given that it is a project protected profile.

I can look through the Lebanon records to get primary sources for this profile, as it looks like much of it is secondary or tertiary.

I've read enough now to be convinced they didn't have a son Eliphalet. I will disconnect him, since she's project protected. Thank you. I've added better sources, but if you find any good sources in you research feel free to add them to the profile.

Mercy had at least two other siblings (James and Katherine) christened on the same day and place whose father was Richard Haughton according to the christening source attached to this profile. The ancestry.com version has a photocopy with all 3 children as one entry.

Hi, Her father, Richard's profile is open and you have a source, the Connecticut Church Records Abstracts or the FS Conn births and Christenings, please feel free to add sourced profiles for the other two children to his profile, if you would like to do so.

Is there continued need for project protection here?

Haughten-6 and Haughten-5 appear to represent the same person because: They have the same name and parents.

Update: No feedback for Houghton, and profile text said LNAB should be Haughton, so I changed/protected it.

Looking at the cited sources, I don't see anything solid for either Houghton or Haughton. Is there additional information?

Hi! I just added myself as a manager so that I could change the LNAB back to Haughton. Let me know if that's not ok (or you can change it yourself & remove the "bad merge" category). Thanks!
