Family of Howard Havens & Sarah Carter
William CARTER came to Ohio with his son Simeon and daughter Sarah and her husband, Howard HAVENS.
They arrived in 1835 and bought land in Jackson County. The HAVENS first resided in Bloom Twp, Scioto, Ohio. (according to 1840 Census) before removing to their land in Jackson County. William Carter was a farmer, and is buried (December 1854) on the land he bought in 1835.
Howard Havens Sr. was born circa 1810 in Tazewell County Virginia and was the son of James and Abigail HAVENS. His death certificate lists the names of his parents, indicates that he was 62 years of age at time of death and that he died of lung disease. Howard HAVENS Sr. married Sarah CARTER. on 25 Aug 1832 in Tazewell County, Virginia. Sarah CARTER, born in Virginia, was the daughter of William and Anne (FRENCH) CARTER. Sarah Carter HAVENS died 9 March 1871 in Hamilton Township of consumption. She was 58 years 11 mos of age. Both Howard HAVENS Sr. and wife, Sarah (CARTER) HAVENS are buried Hamilton Cemetery, Jackson County, Ohio.
