The Havens family came to Spanish West Florida between 1782 and 1800. They initially settled in the Mobile area and then moved to the Jackson County, Mississippi area. John Havens III died in 1855 and is buried ten miles north of Poticaw at the Havens-Fletcher Cemetery, Jackson County, Mississippi.
