Merritt Harton Haviland[1] was born in July 1870 at Wisconsin, USA.[2] He appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 in the household of his parents, John H. Haviland and Mary C. (Webster) Haviland, at La Prairie, Rock Co., Wisconsin.[3]
He married Bessie Jennie Randall, daughter of John B. Randall and (--?--) (Culver) Randall, on 4 May 1892 at Rock County, Wisconsin.[4]
He was a traveling salesman when he and Bessie appeared on the census of 9 June 1900 at Janesville, Rock Co., Wisconsin.[2] He was a commercial traveler of leaf tobacco when he and Bessie appeared on the census of 29 April 1910 at 1325 S. Third St., Janesville, Rock Co., Wisconsin.[5] He was a farmer when he and Bessie appeared on the census of 19 Jan. 1920 at 1325 S. Third St., Janesville, Rock Co., Wisconsin.[6] He was a tobacco company salesman when he and Bessie appeared on the census of 3 April 1930 at 1325 S. Third St., Janesville, Rock Co., Wisconsin.[7][8][9]
Merritt died in 1937 probably in Rock County, Wisconsin and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin. His memorial has a photo of his gravestone.[10]
