Biography

John H. Haviland was born circa 1839 at Rensselaer County, New York, USA.[1] He appeared on the census of 7 Sep. 1850 in the household of his parents, Nathan Haviland and Susanna (Hartin) Haviland, at Pittstown, Rensselaer County, New York.[2] He appeared on the census of 19 June 1855 in the household of his parents at Pittstown, Rensselaer County, New York.[1] He appeared on the census of 25 July 1860 in the household of his parents at La Prairie, Rock County, Wisconsin. [3] He registered for the civil war draft in June 1863 at La Prairie, Rock County, Wisconsin.[4]

He married Mary C. Webster, daughter of Seymour C. Webster and Dorcus C. (Nichols) Webster,[5] circa 1869. [6]

He was a farmer when he and Mary appeared on the census of 28 June 1870 at La Prairie, Rock Co., Wisconsin. [6] He was a farmer when he and Mary appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 at La Prairie, Rock Co., Wisconsin.[7]

John died on 3 July 1896 at Rock County, Wisconsin and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin. His memorial has a photo of his gravestone and his date of death.[8]
