William Hawkins was born about 28 Feb 1586/87 at Plymouth, Devonshire, England. He passed away in 1655.[1] Two baptismal records are found on familysearch.org which may or may not be this William:
Said to have arrived on an immigrant ship in 1636 at Charles River County (became York in 1643), Virginia. The name of the ship has not been located and the exact date is unconfirmed. The only confirmed date is the recording of the grant for his headright in 1637. His arrival could have been several years earlier.
This was the second son that William *the father* named William. He arrived in Virginia in 1636. He left his family in England when he came to Virginia. He landed at Lower Norfolk (or James City) and went to Poquoson River area where he bought land adjoining Peter Rigby. This was also the same area where his half brother Thomas lived and owned land . This is almost the exact site of present day Williamsburg. Later his wife Sarah and children came to join him.[6]
William married Sarah (Kahn) Hawkins about 1610 in England. No marriage record has yet been found. Children listed but unconfirmed:
William Hawkins, of the parish and County of York, wrote his will on 24 March 1654/5 and it was recorded 25 June 1655 at parish and County of York. Abstract:
It is generally presumed that Argall Blackstone was the husband of William's daughter Alice Margaret (Millicent) and that John Wright was married to daughter Sarah Hawkins. These relationships are unconfirmed.
From references in the Timeline to William's guardianship of Argall Blackstone, it appears that Argall/Argyle Blackstone may have been a stepson and not son-in-law, since the term son-in-law could apply to either relationship at that time.[10]
It does appear from the fact they are not included in the abstract of his will that William's sons Thomas and John did not survive him.

Notes for William Hawkins: He landed in Norfolk Co., but by 1637 he had bought land and had a plantation along the New Poquoson River near James Cittie. He bought land adjoining Peter Rigsby's plantation. Uncertain what records, if any, identified him to an earlier researcher as a son of William Hawkins and Mary Halse. Descendants of William Hawkins and Sir John Hawkins

I'm trying to discover the real name of the IMMIGRANT SHIP. William Hawkins III is my 9th great grandfather.

He married back into my family? just like my Dad with my Mom who were 6th cousins. Both of them are Beaumont decedents. Is it colonial magnetism. or reincarnation?
like Beaumont County's or like Beaumont Texas. All named for the Beaumont's of England. He born in Colorado his family settled Colorado. My family settled 5 states. But his family and my family kept marring Irish decedents. That's it. and this guy was an aristocrat, and my grandfather was too. sir Andrew woods or who ever. Would not surprise me if a lot of my ancestors came over on this mans ship or at least with his connections..
Thanks
John (Hawkins) lived at Tavistock and married Joan, the daughter and heiress of William Amadas, Esquire, of Launceston, who was Sergeant-at-Arms to Henry VIII. William married Margaret Hawkins, but it is not known how she was related to John. It seems possible that this marriage led to the introduction of the Hawkins family to the court of Henry VIII . . . He and Joan had three children: William, Henry and Agnes. [1]
