Biography
Laura was born on 28th October 1783 in George Street, Hanover Square and she was baptised at St Mary, Ealing on 17th November 1783 as the daughter of George Edward Hawkins Esq., and Louisa his wife.[1]
In the Will of her grandfather, Pennell Hawkins, Laura, and her elder sister Louisa, received bequests as 'the two children of my late son George Edward Hawkins.[2]
In the Will of her grandfather, Thomas Lane Esq., which was made on 12th January 1796, Laura, and her elder sister Louisa received a number of bequests.[3]
On 13th August 1803 at St Marylebone, Westminster, 'Laura Hawkins of the parish of St George Hanover Square, spinster' married, by licence and with the consent of Thomas Malkin Esq., her guardian, 'Matthew White Ridley the younger, bachelor.' They both signed the register and their witnesses were Edw. Bowater (either Laura's step-father or half-brother ) and Matthew White Ridley.[4]
Laura died on 22nd July 1864 and probate of her Will was granted 8th September 1864.[5]
