In the 1880 census Robert (age 5) was the son of James P. Hawthorn in District 571, Gwinnett, Georgia, United States.[2]

Research Notes
Profile was initially created with the 2nd wife of his father, but his father did not marry Emma until 1888. He was seen in 1880 census before his father married Emma. He was not seen in the census with his father and Emma in 1900 or 1910. His gravestone states he was born in 1875, which matches the 1880 census and his mother would be his father's 1st wife.
