In the 1860 census Wm (age 26) was in Abbeville, South Carolina, United States.[2]

William was in a military record on 10 Apr 1862 in Peninsula, Virginia, USA. They were in the Second Cavalry D-H.[3]

Page 127 (Rev. Agnew's Diary) got a letter from A C Hawthorn Monday. Benton Hawthorn is dead. He was wounded and captured at Gettysburg. His leg was amputated but he died. Wash is in bad health. Uncle William Agnew is at Charleston in the army.
