Adam was born about 1745. He is the son of John Hawthorne and Elizabeth Chalmers.
The family immigrated to America in 1767 on the Brigantine Chichester which landed in Charlestown, South Carolina. Adam was recorded on the transcribed passenger list as 44. "Hathorn," Adam, age 22, received warrant for 100 acres of land[1]
His father died in 1786 in Craven County, South Carolina, and left a legacy to son, Adam Hawthorn.[2]
He passed away about 1810. [3] Adam Hawthorn, Senr of Fairfield District South Carolina wrote his Last Will and Testament on the 6th day of March 1811 leaving legacies to:
The will was proven in court the 14th of March 1811 and recorded the 22nd of January 1812.
