Margaret was born in 1883 in Ballymoney, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the daughter of John Hawthorn, a sailor, and Susan McIlwain. Her birth was registered by Catherine Purdy of Ballymoney.[1] She was baptised on 22 Aug 1883 in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church.[2]
In 1901 she was living with her Flack (McIlwain) cousins at 61 Seaview Street, Belfast and working as a stitcher in a factory.[3]
In 1904 she married John Daniel Coyle in Newington Presbyterian Church, Belfast. He was a shop assistant from Belfast and she was also living in Belfast. The witnesses were Charles R Ferris and Mary E Hawthorne.[4]
Margaret passed away in 1948 aged 64 years[5] and was interred in St. Johns Church of Ireland Graveyard, Islandmagee. [6]
