Ransom and his family were living in Boone District, Watauga County, North Carolina in 1850[2] and 1860. In his household are his wife Sally and children: John, Thomas, Nancy, Sarah, Ransom, Richard, and George.[3]
He passed away in April 1868 in Watauga County, North Carolina and is buried in Hayes-Bryan Cemetery, Watauga County.[1]
