He was noted as born 1897 in Alabama and married. He was first married at the age of twenty-seven. He was a renter and a barber (barber shop) as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Ellie L Hays, daughter Marjorie Hays, son Terry Hays and daughter Elouise Hays.^[1]
