Biography

Annie Haynes's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1883 in the Madeley Union district.^[1] Ann Haynes, daughter of William Haynes, brickmaker, & his wife Fanny, was baptised on 3 April 1883 in Ironbridge, Shropshire, England. At the time of her christening, the family was living in Blissers Hill.^[2]

Annie Haynes married Charles Henry Worden in 1897 and their marriage was registered in Prestwich, Lancashire, England.^[3]

Research Notes

Her mother, Fanny, was living with the family in the 1921 census. The only matching christening record available in Ironbridge is the one quoted, which matches the birth record in 1883 with mother’s maiden name Wright. There is a corresponding marriage record for a William Haynes and Fanny Wright (their marriage was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1872 in the Madeley district.^{[17] [18]} but I couldn’t find the family in the 1891 census). The census records put her birth year earlier. Unusually, her birth date was not given in the image of the parish register although many of the other entries on that page have a birth date. Copies of the birth and marriage records could be purchased from the GRO to verify the father’s name matches. Notes that all the sources give her maiden name as Haynes - her last name at birth should be changed to Haynes.Hardman-1532 14:21, 30 November 2023 (UTC) .
