This is a place holder. Family records show that Bessie Smith married George Hayes and had three children. These are noted as-
George C Hayes
Willie Hayes
Jack Hayes

Hayes George R C Hancock Birmingham 6d 38
This gap is exacerbated by the problem of location. The George Hayes who married Bessie Smith was probably a singer with the D'Oyle Carte Opera. There are records of a George Hayes as a singer. The general family was operating between the US and other locations during the late 1800s and early 1900s. They appear to settle in Aston Birmingham at the beginning of the 20th century. Probably closely associated. Margaret Ellis was born in Aston Birmingham in 1909 and George C Hayes was a witness at her wedding in 1938. We have a note that Jack Hayes married an Alice. The only record I can find is a George Hayes marrying an Alice Jeanette Docker in Aston Dec 1901. Around the right time.
However the Son George Richard C Hayes is traceable and the tree continues.
George Richard C Hayes birth record appears to have been as below
BMD Register Births Dec 1912
Hayes George R C Churchill Aston 6d 815
The only marriage in the UK I can find is this-
BMD register Marriages Jun 1904
Churchill Mary Ann E Camberwell 1d 1421
Hayes John Camberwell 1d 1421
this is not an Alice!! Johns seems to assume the nickname Jack in the family. Still inconclusive. Did George marry Alice and jack(John) marry Mary Ann???
