William J Hayes was born on June 6, 1892, in Oconto, Wisconsin, his father, Richard, was 40 and his mother, Jane, was 21. He married Wilhelmina Draeger on October 15, 1913[1], in his hometown. They had ten children in 20 years. He died on January 23, 1962[2], in Iowa at the age of 69 of stomach cancer, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Oconto, Wisconsin[3].
