Biography
Elizabeth Hayes was born in 1768. She was the daughter of Anthony Hayes and Elizabeth Bense. Her father was the British Consul to Smyrna.
She married Luc Francois Tricon Cortazzi, the Venetian Consul to Smyrna and they had about 10 children. She was widowed in 1806 and she died in Russia in 1847 at the age of 79.
Death
At Odessa, Southern Russia, in her 80th year, Mrs Elisabeth Cortazzi, relict of the late L.F. Cortazzi Esq Consul of the Venetian Republic and daughter of A. Hayes Esq British Consul of Smyrna". [1]
