Sharon: "Nellie's home was always the center of the family gatherings in Fulton County, IL. She welcomed company with open arms. My family never got close without stopping in. Later after the loss of our mother, my sister and I continued to keep the family tradition of stopping to see Nellie at least once a year, up until her death in1995. Nellie had a heart as big as gold. She passed that bi g heart onto her children and grandchildren. I remember when Daryl was just a toddler, we were visiting Delbert and Nellie. Daryl climbed up to thepiano, and said "Boom boom Nellie's". My mother and I quickly rushed to rescue Nellie's piano, but Nelllie stopped us. Instead she instructed Daryl how to play the piano with just one finger. That was Nellie. She loved children and they loved her . Maybe that is one reason that God blessed her with a large family. Times were not always easy for them, raising such a large family, but you were always welcome to share what they had at meal time . You could always feel the happiness in their home. When Nellie lost her leg, she kept right on being active in a motorized wheel chair that Delbert fixed up for her. She never complained. Nellie w as special and very dear to the hearts of her family, including the many nieces and nephews.".

Dwight: "Nellie did have a love of the written word. She was astickler for spelling and to this day when I see a misspelled word, it jumps off the page at me. She read her Bible and was a good Methodist. She went to church enough to keep her membership in the lady's society in good shape.".
Buried Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington, IL.
