Suit and Mary Ann Redmond Suit. He grew up in the Eva area. On June 11, 1882 he married a neighbor girl....They settled on the top of Wilhite Mountain near his family, where they raised their large family. William was a country doctor. He used a horse and buggy to visit his patients. Later, before 1920, he bought a model T Ford and hired Coleman Childers to drive it for him. His patients lived in a large area of Morgan County and cullman County. He delivered all the babies and dispensed medicine, lots of bootleg whiskey, to the flu and colds victims. One rememdy I remember well was whiskey over rock candy for coughs. He delivered all his children, grandchildren, and four of his great grandchildren, including me who is the oldest great child. He got paid with meal, hams, sugar, and about anything they had around the house. Doctor Suit died February 11, 1944 of a heart attack. He was 83 years old. Here is a paragraph of his obituary. "Dr. Suit had practiced medicine in Morgan County for over forty-eight years. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, and was one of the most widely beloved residents of Morgan County." "On June 11, 1882, he married a neighbor girl. She was Mary Melvina (Molly) Bell. She was born April 6, 1863 in Cherokee County, North Carolina. Her parents were Joseph and Mary Bates Bell. Her father had died in the Confederate war. He did not get to see his baby daughter. In his last letter home, he named her. She kept the letter framed, hanging on her wall along side a picture of her father until she died October 19 1937 in Morgan County Alabama. A copy of the letter can be found in the article on her mother, Mary Bates Bell Hall. They settled on top of Wilhite Mountain near his family where they raised their large family."
