He died the next year on 20 or 22 July 1710 in Brookfield, killed by Indians.[6][7] The estate of John Grossvenor, tanner deceased, was appraised on 29 August 1710, and on 8 May 1711 his widow Sarah was named as administratrix.[8]
She married, secondly, David Allen after intentions were published on 29 November 1711 in Suffield, Connecticut.[9] David was the son of Edward and Sarah (Kimball) Allen, born 01 February 1675/6 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[10] In 1696 Edward Allen of Suffield bequeathed his house to his son David. After David's wife Sarah died, he married Hannah (Unknown) who was named in a deed in 1747/8. David died in Hanover New Jersey after 1752. No probate records have been found for David Allen.[2]
Sarah (Hayward) (Grosvenor) Allen probably died in Hanover, New Jersey, sometime before 21 January 1747/8, when her widower, David, and his new wife, Hannah Allen, sold land in Hanover to his son-in-law.[11]
