Stephen was born about 1748 and is the son of Thomas Hearne and Nancy Wilson. He passed away about 1844.
In a book called "Brief History and Genealogy of the Hearne Family from A.D. 1066...", by William T. Hearne of Independence, Mississippi1895-1898 and 1900, pg. 579: "Rev. Stephen Hearne (1748-1841 or 1844), was an eminently useful and successful minister in the M. E. Church. He lived many years after the death of his wife, with his daughter, Mrs. Priscilla Coggin."

Census Records
Stephen Hearn was living in Montgomery County, North Carolina in 1790, 1800, and 1810 according to census records. By 1820, he went north into Chatham County, North Carolina. The 1830 census reveals that he lived east of Pee Dee and Yadkin River located in Montgomery County, North Carolina suggesting that he never left. The final census of 1840 suggests he lived on the west side of the Pee Dee River in Montgomery County.
