Biography

Childhood

Mary (Heffernan) Hunter was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)
Mary Ann Heffernan was born on 22 November 1880 at Spring Hill, NSW, the daughter of widow Anne Maria Everingham and Patrick Heffernan.[1] The third of their five children, Mary had one older sister, one older brother and two younger brothers. Mary's parents married in 1881 after their first three children were born. Mary also had two half-sisters and two half-brothers from her mother's first marriage.
Mary's mother passed away in 1886.
Mary's father then formed a relationship with Ada Selmes. They may have been the parents of six children.

Married Life

Mary Ann Heffernan, illegitimate daughter of Anne Maria Everingham and Patrick Heffernan, married George Albert Hunter, son of Mary Ann Howell and David Hunter, at Annandale on 12 April 1905.[2] Their children included:
  1. George Raymond Hunter (1906-1984)
  2. Marie Doreen (Hunter) Thompson (1906-)
  3. Douglas Gregg Hunter (1909-2000)
  4. Evelyn Joan (Hunter) Douglas (1916-abt.2000).

Passing

Mary Ann (Heffernan) Hunter passed away on 13 September 1942 at the Mater Misericordiae private hospital, North Sydney.[3][4] She was survived by:
  • several brothers and sisters
  • her husband George
  • her four children
Mary's husband George remarried in 1946.
