Biography

Melchoir Hefner lived in Appalachia, in North Carolina. See Appalachia Project.

Melchior Hefner (Melcar Havner) was born in 1718 in Hessen, Germany. He arrived in America September 1, 1734 on a ship named St. Andrews Galley from Rotterdam. They landed at a port in Maryland. On December 13, 1770, Melchior and Catharina purchased 350 acres of land in Lincoln County (now Catawba) which was named “The Plantation." A year or so later in December 1771 or 1772, they arrived in North Carolina to make their home. Melchior served In the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. His son, John J., also served in the war as a drummer. [1]

Hefner-82 and Hefner-421 appear to represent the same person because: This is the same individual buried in Catawba County cemetery. For some reason the death location on Find A Grave was incorrect.

Hefner-421 and Hefner-82 appear to represent the same person because: appears to be same man. Check / correct and adjust the birth dates of the children on Hefner-421 as no man (probably fathered children at aged 9 himself)
