Biography

Henry Michael Hefner was born 10 Apr 1788 in Brandywine, Pendleton County, Virginia (in what is now West Virginia) to parents John Jacob Heavenor (Hefner) and Anna Marie Mallo. He had eight siblings.

It is possible he is the father of Elizabeth A Hefner (later Wiltfong) (1810-1861).

Michael married Barbara Fleischer on 12 Apr 1812 in Pendelton, West Virginia[1] and they had nine children:

  1. Peter
  2. Katherine (later Bartholomew)
  3. Jerome
  4. Adaline (later Goddard)
  5. Harmon
  6. Henry
  7. Margaret (later Popejoy)
  8. Marion Hefner
  9. Marston

In 1850, he was aged 61 and living in McLean, McLean County, Illinois with his daughter Sallina Goddard (aged 31, born in Ohio), his two sons Marion (18, Illinois) and Marston (14, Illinois), and presumebly Sallina's two children Mary Emma (7, Illinois) and Francis A Goddard (2, Illinois).[2]

He passed away on 1 Jul 1851 in McLean County, Illinois. He was buried in Clarksville Cemetery, Lexington, McLean County, Illinois.[3]
