Mary Hemingway was born August 28, 1704 in New Haven, Ct.[1] She died September 5, 1767 at the age of 63. [2] She was the daughter of John Hemingway and Mary Morris.
On May 13, 1719 she married Samuel Russell. [3] She was 14 years old and Samuel about 24. She had her first child 9 months later on 2 Feb 1719/20. [4] She was 15 years old. Her husband died 11 Jul 1738 leaving her a widow with several children. [5] She remarried to Samuel Smith about 1743/4. His first wife, Eleanor Thompson, had died 12 Oct 1742 and Mary and her 2nd husband, Samuel Smith, had a child, Lydia, born about 1745. [6] Mary was about 40 years old when she married her 2nd husband. With Samuel Smith she had two children, Lydia and Samuel.[7]
