Biography

Hannah Elizabeth was born on November 21, 1884 at 39, Alice Street, Plaistow, London. She was the eldest of three daughters born to John Williams and Mary Jane Hemmings. On April 8, 1907 Hannah married John Edward (Jack) Reeves at Holy Trinity Church, Barking Road, canning Town. They lived first at Fisher Street Canning Town where they had three children. In the1950s they moved into one of the new flats, built after the Second World War, in Whiting Avenue. Barking. Hannah lived there for the rest of her life. She nearly always wore a floral apron. When Jack's grand-nephew kept the Red Lion, nearby he used to send one of his daughters over each day with 'a jug of stout for Auntie Hannah'. She died in Barking Hospital on November 23, 1971.
