Born
about Sept 1805
Par. of Kincardine, Perthshire, Scotland
Notes: Baptism in Kincardine by Doune parish, which is in Perthshire, but with no specific place mentioned. Mother Margaret came from Kincardine by Doune, and the 1841 census, in Stirlingshire, shows William as not born county. So either Margaret went home to Mum for the birth of her first born, or Archibald and Margaret were living there in 1805[3][4][5]
Baptised
30 SEP 1805
Par. of Kincardine by Doune, Perthshire, Scotland
Notes: entry reads: "Wilm Son to Archd Henderson & Margt McKewan" (Other HENDERSONs on same page: 25 Augt James to Jas HENDERSON & Elisabeth MURDOCK. Niad; 3 Jan 1806: Ann to John SHIRRA & Margaret HENDERSON. Chopa)[6][7][8]
Died
1846 AND 1851
probably at the Bridge of Allan, STI/Perthshire, Scotland
with William now likely to be the husband of Margaret SINCLAIR, he has to have been around for birth of dtr Janet, and isn't obvious in the 1851 census.
No previous searches of the more likely candidates 1855 and up, by age or place of dth, have turned out to be William, at least within Scotland.[4]
Marriage
03 JAN 1835
Par. of Logie, STI/Perthshire, Scotland
entry reads: "William Henderson and Margaret Sinclair both in this parish gave in their names for proclamation of banns for two days"[9][10]
Census
6 Jun 1841
Bridge of Allan, Logie (Perth), Perthshire, Scotland[5]

The triangulation involves:
Ian Dick (GedMatch T247554), a descendant of William
two descendants of brother James' son William:
Lorna (GedMatch T087062) and Bill (Gedmatch T340674), and
J M Robertson (GedMatch T610222) a descendant of James's daughter Mary
Research Note
Without any positive sightings of William beyond 1855, and nothing confirmed prior to 1855, I (Lorna) had consigned William to the "unlikely ever to be solved" category of my family history.
The only likely candidate in the 1841 census had been claimed for another family, unquestioned until now (Dec 2012).
Thank you Robert for popping out of the woodwork in connection with William's sister-in-law Margeret COUPER and making me re-examine the gaps in my HENDERSON history.
Several have now been plugged, more questions asked, but in the process, I convinced myself that William, son of Archibald and Margaret (McEWAN) HENDERSON, had indeed survived beyond his baptism, married, and produced descendants, many of whom are in Australia. One even appears to have visited New Zealand long enough to register a child in Christchurch.
Love to hear from any descendants, particularly any with early photographs, or anyone willing to add to our knowledge of this extended HENDERSON family[11][4][12]
STOP PRESS:
atDNA results just in for a descendant of William and Margaret show a satisfying number of significant matches (many predicted at 2nd to 4th cousin level) with descendants of William's brother James Henderson-2297 14:45, 19 February 2016 (EST)
