Note

Note: Robert moved to Stone Hut with his parents in 1872, and assisted his father in the blacksmith business, having completed his schooling at Kapunda.
After the Gorge road opened, Robert shifted to Port Germein in 1883 and erected a blacksmith shop alongside the road on the eastern outskirts of the town. He added a cueing pen for bullocks, and yards with feeders and water troughts for teamsters horses. He also build sheds for the storage and sale of fodder. William assisted him.
"The name Henderson first appeared in the Cleve district when in 1884, sailor Robert Henderson, his wife and infant and brother William travelled from Port Germain in a dray and purchased section 118 in the Hundred of Yadnarie. They were followed in 1885 by his father Peter and the remaining members of the family (with the exception of Peter's son James).
Robert (the initial settler) returned to Port Germain after two years. Here he became a store keeper, wheat agent and harbour master. The long walk on the jetty (the longest in the southern hemisphere) in all weathers finally caused his death from pneumonia."
from pages 207/8 of "Cleve on the Yadnarie Plains 1879 - 1979" edited by Laurel Spriggs and Elsa Wauchope, 1979, Cleve Centenary Committee.
