Hi John,

Not quite sure what to make of the SAR application information you left in a comment for me. I cannot find that SAR membership number. Any chance there was a typo?

Passion grows when we find things like this in our own tree -

Karen, as an example has a 5th - Uncle Daniel Crume - who owned the Bull Run Farm in Shenandoah Valley Virginia - yep, the famous Battle of Bull Run! He married Mary Ada Lincoln - President Abe's favorite aunt and is even mentioned in a letter from Lincoln - of thanks for a pair of warm woolen socks and acknowledging the marriage of his aunt!

Personally, I found 2 uncles Thomas and Joseph Logston (correct sp is Logsdon) and my 6th great grand father Thomas Logston in George Washington's Diary 24 September 1784 where they assisted GW in the survey of the territory around their homesteads near the W.Virginia – Maryland and Pennsylvania borders and the N & S Branches of the Potomac River. I can make these available on request.

John, these are both active accounts with email addresses. One of the email addresses will have to be removed so the files can be merged. If that doesn't work, you'll need to contact [email address removed] for help.

Near the bottom of the page on the left under the Matches & Merges tab is where you can initiate a merge.

Hi Debbie, It seems that there are duplicate John Henderson files that need to be merged - Henderson 4056 & 4639 are both mine. Can you help with this?

There truly is a passion that seems to encompass all passions in one. The Passion of Self. I’m not talking about an ego trip or the “Self made man who worships his creator”, or even a healthy form of familial pride. I’m talking about the Passion of Heritage.

The Passion of Heritage is every persons past time. Everyone we talk to and every conversation on a personal level will eventually come around to family history. Perhaps it is just because I subconsciously lead a conversation to family history or because of my personal passion for history but, I just pick up on certain buzz words like a dog on the scent of a fresh bone, I don’t know. It just comes natural and I want to share that passion and help bring it to the surface of those who seek the truth about their family heritage.

In researching my own family tree, I am inundated with errors that stem from amateurs making the wrong choices when given an opportunity to add a potential member. This appears to come from an innate desire to be the descendant of a famous or infamous person. I am guilty of this as well, but as I learn and grow as a seasoned researcher, and learn from those errors, I feel it is my responsibility to share the knowledge and - hopefully - avert future errors from becoming a stumbling block to future researchers.
