The following excerpt [5] from well-circulated family lore is the source of much that has been accepted for this early Virginia family ...
"Early in the settlement of America, about the year 1611, Alexander Henderson came from Aberdeen, Scotland and settled at Jamestown Virginia and afterwards settled at a place called Blue Springs near the same place. The said Alexander Henderson was the father of a numerous family and among them Richard Henderson, who married Polly Washer and raised a family in Hanover County, Virginia. They had four sons, Edward, Samuel, Nathaniel, and Lenard, and one daughter who married a man named Trevillian and moved to South Carolina.
The only reference to this man known to this researcher is in a chain of title to a deed in the Rappahannock River area. The death date as given belongs to a Thomas Henderson, who died 1709 in St Peter's Parish, and it was a Thomas Henderson, perhaps the same one, who married the Wilkerson in 1798 in the same parish.
Another possible brother was Edward.
Another possible son of Thomas & Ursula is Richard Henderson [6] who married Henrietta with sons Samuel, James, Nathan and daughters Mary & Henrietta.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Alexander by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Alexander:
have these connections been confirmed through DNA? Also I am looking for the ancestors of my 3rd great grandfather, Lewis Henderson. Born in Granville NC about 1806, died in Marshall co KY.
