George Travis Henderson was born on August 1, 1880, the eldest of the children, in Williamstown, West Virginia, the child of Jock Bedell Henderson and Anna Rosalie McIntosh.
George attended Marietta College, he married Rachel Margaret Byer on April 26, 1902, in Washington County, Ohio. They began their married life on a small farm on the family homestead known as Henderson Hall. They had four children in 10 years.
George worked for the railroad and unfortunately was killed on May 6, 1928, in a train wreck in Wetzel County, West Virginia, at the age of 47, and was buried in Boaz, West Virginia.
