Biography

Winona (as she was always known) was born on her father's farm near Mulberry Grove, Illinois, in 1912. She was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Andrews and Mary Viola Carroll.^[1]

1920 census lists Winona Andrews's parents as Thomas Andrews and Mary V. Andrews. ^[2]

In 1933 she and fiance, Murl Henderson, drove to Peoria, Illinois, and got married at the home of Murl's cousin, Eula Rain.^[1]

Winona graduated from McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois, where she studied to be a teacher. She taught school on and off through the 1970s.^[1]

Murl and Winona first lived in Vandalia, Illinois, but moved to Mt. Vernon in the 1940s where they lived out their lives.^[1]

Winona passed away in her Mt. Vernon home in 2006.^[3][4][1]

She is buried at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens west of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.^[1]
